Thailand Honeymoon Guide Part 1: Bangkok

The time has finally come to recap my honeymoon trip; 2 years in the making. 🙂  When deciding on how I wanted to present my Thailand honeymoon guide I thought the best person to help me would be my hubby.  After speaking with him I came up with the conclusion to do a 3 part guide for this travel series, since there is just too much information and detail to put into one post. 🙂

So, let’s start off from the beginning in Bangkok.

Day 1: We arrived in Bangkok, greeted by our designated tour guide and driver.  We had the most amazing tour guide Mr. Akai.  He was welcoming, extremely nice, and made you feel like family.  After we were picked up from the airport they drove us to our hotel Riva Surya Bangkok were we got to rest for a few hours before Diego and I got picked up for our first official Thai massage.style the girl thailand honeymoon style the girl thailand honeymoon style the girl thailand honeymoon

Guys, this massage was the best massage that I have ever had; Diego and I were there for 3 hours!!!!  They had us in milk baths, saunas, an hour and a half long couple massage and boy was it the perfect and most relaxing thing in the world after traveling for over 25+ to get there. lol

Once the massage was over and we got changed, Mr. Akai and our driver came to pick us up to take us onboard the Apsara for a sumptuous Thai meal as we got to watch the sunset behind the Bangkok skyline.  It was absolutely beautiful and the food was made to perfection.  Diego had the best time eating all the food while myself on the other hand was having to get used to all the new flavors my pallet was not used too.  ;D

Day 2: This day we spend exploring Thailand`s capital on a unique city safari.  We visited Lumpini Park where locals practice Tai Chi in the morning, completely marveled at the opulence of the Grand Palace left us breathless and the our tour guide Mr. Akai took us through the backwater klongs (canals) to see the very heart of the city at work.   It was so amazing to see all of this first hand with him because if we had come to Bangkok alone and tried to figure it out ourselves I am pretty sure we would have been completely overwhelmed and lost most of the time.

One of the cool parts looking back now is the while we were at the Grand Palace, Mr. Akai gave Diego and I a gift and told us to not open it until we get back to the hotel.  When we did, we saw it was a keychain with a little baby on it and a message wishing us many babies for our future together. 🙂

One of the best parts too were seeing the city by using longtail boats to the ultra-slick skytrain to the ubiquitous tuk-tuk; we seriously got to explore areas of the city that most visitors never get to see.

Day 3:  This day was exactly how I envisioned and why I saw when looking up pictures of Bangkok because we got to enjoy a morning trip to Tha Kha floating market and witness the locals trading their wares, both at the floating markets and the unique railway market!

We also visited the Jim Thompson silk company where we had lunch, saw how silk was made and got to physically tour his house.  Plus we bought some pretty silk scarves to bring home to our moms. 🙂

After we spent the day learning all about the different styles of markets in Bangkok, Mr. Akai and our driver dropped us off at our hotel and we relaxed before we set off to our second romantic dinner of our trip to the Sirocco which is the located in the highest building in Bangkok; it might look familiar because it was in the Hangover 2.

Not only was the food amazing, but you could not beat that view of Bangkok at night because it was gorgeous.  After we had our meal we headed to the bar that is literally hanging off the side of the building; being afraid of heights I really had to pull up all the courage to go to it, but ended up being an awesome picture. 🙂

Day 4:  We had a super early start this morning as they transferred us to the airport for our flight to Phuket where we headed to the Elephant Hills Camp for the second part of our honeymoon trip.

So check back tomorrow for the recap and thanks for following along!!
